Welcome to TJC Blog
Jersey City is perhaps one of the most underrated places around. For the longest time, it has lived in the shadow of its great neighbor. However, as its locals would undoubtedly tell you, Jersey City is a great place in its own right.
So, let’s explore it together!
The pandemic has had everyone in a rut this past year. Social distancing and stay-at-home safety measures has kept people from enjoying time together and spending time outdoors near any crowds. But now that the vaccine is on its way, and more and more people are getting ready for a more active and social 2021, its time for New Jersey families to consider ways they can enjoy their year.
Springtime is right around the corner (even though its currently the dead of winter). But what better time to start planning and fantasizing about life in a post-COVID world.
Here are a few ideas for when your family finally gets out into the world again:
Birthday Parties are Back!
I don’t know about you, but its been a year withour parties for me and my family. We’ve had “virtual” get togethers via Zoom, but haven’t visited with family or friends since the Pandemic began.
One thing that we really missed was being able to celebrate our kids birthday parties with their friends. Especially for younger kids, it’s really a big to miss their birthday celebration.
So first thing we are going to do is get a big ol’ bounce castle from BounceHousesNJ.com is invite a couple dozen friends and family members over to our backyard. This combined with some good food and drink will make a very enjoyable afternoon.
And yes, adults can hop on the bounce house too!
I’ll admit, we already spent lots of time this past summer in the backyard grilling up some food, however we never got to invite our friends over. Really, what’s better than a warm summer day, grilling up some healthy food, with your favorite drink in your hand, having a good conversation with some friends?
Zoom or Facetime just doesn’t cut it sometimes!
As life long Jersey girls and guys, we’ve been to Six Flags Great Adventure dozens of times. However we haven’t been able to make our annual trip their this year for obvious reasons. When the vaccine finally gets through the population, this is going to be one of our first stops.
And one of the benefits of such a horrible year is that many of these companies are giving discounts to help encourage business to come back. Might as well take advantage of that!
It is one thing to explore all the different sights in a city. However, if you are truly serious about getting to know the city and its culture better, then you need to experience its local food scene. After all, food tells you so much about a place. That said, we have taken it upon ourselves to dig around and explore Jersey City’s culinary scene.
- Razza – This is perhaps one of the best-known restaurants in the city. More than a mere pizza place, it has become nothing less than an icon in recent years. Locals and tourists alike line up to have a taste the best pizza around.
- Andrea Salumeria – If you are in the mood for great sandwiches, then maybe you’ll want to drop by Andrea’s. While it may look like an ordinary Italian deli at first glance, the line stretching out the door will surely tell you otherwise. It offers a straightforward but altogether outstanding eating experience that everyone should try at least once.
There is certainly no shortage of great food to eat in the city. You just have to take your time around town and explore your options.
Jersey City is the Garden State’s capital. It comes with its rich and distinct history that is closely tied to the growth of this nation. Despite being established as a mere colonial outpost, Jersey quickly grew and became the city that we know today following the industrial revolution. That heritage is honored in countless museums and monuments all over the city.
That said, many consider Jersey City to be a bite out of the famed Big Apple because of its proximity to the great New York City. Jersey is sprawled along the banks of the Hudson River. You can easily get to Jersey through the subway or by ferry. It boasts a breathtaking view of its neighbor across the water. One of the highlights of the sight being the Empire State building and all its glory as it rises prominently to the sky.
Of course, this does not mean that Jersey has nothing to offer. On the contrary, Jersey City is also well-known as one of the top spots on the entire East Coast. You just have to know where to look!
